It seems this profound interest in niqab has been an ongoing topic of interest for not only the Muslim community but those who have interest in Islam. Especially promoters of hate sites and propaganda seekers.
No matter how much you try to explain to them the reasoning behind the veil... they will see it as their solemn duty to tell you what the veil means to them - usually beginning and ending in oppression, suppression or silencing of the woman. I'm actually quite tired now in what seems to be a defense of niqab. In my views, there is no defense needed or necessary.
If a woman is entitled to take as much of her clothing off, then a woman is entitled to put as much of her clothes on as she deems fit. This is the consensus of choice. But the hijab and the niqab go beyond just a matter of choice for the Muslim woman. It is an outward expression of worship, strictly about obedience to the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth.
I am especially put-off by the apologists of Islam. The self proclaimed "moderate" muslims, who say that niqab is not part of Islam. Niqab is most certainly part of Islam... not only because the wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, but because it is a garment of the Muslim women. They have gone beyond the statements of our noble leaders and scholars of the past in regard to women wearing niqab. They have made decisions above what is in the hadeeth. They have gone beyond the limits set by Allaah and His messenger.
How do you not see your Muslim sister, covering for the sake of Allaah and undergoing the stresses of bigotry, discrimination and hatred. Whether you or she believes it is obligatory or recommended, to support her in her decision to seek the reward from Allaah is standing up for your sister's rights. There is no necessity to contemporize Islam to fit the standards of men, because it will never be satiated. The Muslims are the strangers... this is our path, to deny the innate, basic desires and to return to the natural fitrah of worship to Allaah. The desires of man change with the mood of the individual, the circumstances surrounding them and the subjection of their own opinion.
Stand with your sisters against the true oppression of society, forcing us to conform to their views of "beauty" or supporting weak arguments of lack of communication. Stand with your Muslim sisters towards the true freedom of worshiping Allah wholeheartedly and with sincerity.
